  • Golden Key will be working with us on AIDS Awarenes Day (Tues. Dec. 1); we plan to have a table in the Union lobby where we'll hold a bake sale and distribute AIDS awareness ribbons along with safer-sex kits; Mike, a representative from Golden Key, attended our meeting to tell us about the honor society's wish to get involved (e-mail "bass@acsu.buffalo.edu"); Martin and Omar attended Golden Key's general meeting last night at 5:30 in 145B Student Union to discuss our intentions with their e-board; we'll also be looking into placing donations boxes in campus businesses, the proceeds of which would go to benefit AIDS Community Services.

  • Membership voted to donate no more than $100.00 to PFLAG

  • This year's budget currently stands at $4470.00, a little better than last year's budget at this time

  • this Friday's movie night has been canceled; instead, everyone is encouraged to attend the film "Hallelujah" in the CFA Screening Room at 8pm; this movie is part of Hallwalls's Ways in Being Gay Festival; more info in the office, as well as $1.00-off coupons!!; admission w/o a coupon is $4.50 w/student ID; Sat. 9pm-11pm Hallwalls - 3 art exhibit openings (2 of which are gay-themed); Sun. 2pm Hallwalls - movie on gay comics; Fri. Nov.27th (over Thanksgiving break) 8pm Hallwalls - "An Evidence of Letters," a performance based on the correspondence between two free black women during the Civil War.

  • Martin encourages everyone interested to see male go-go dancers at the Hamlin House next Saturday (over Thanksgiving break) for $15.00

  • Thur. Dec.3rd - hear Amy S. sing at 8pm in Slee Hall for the small fee of $3.00; hear her again one week later, Thur. Dec.10th, same place, same time, but for free! come Dec.3rd to hear her solo, Dec.10th to hear her entire choir do Handel's Messiah

  • the head of the NAACP (who, by the way, support gay rights) will be coming to Canisius to speak for free! that's this Sunday, Nov.22nd, at 5pm please call Taunee at (phone number removed for web version...call the Queer Zoo) for more info...

  • UUAB has scheduled a gay film festival-of-sorts, Dec.2, 3, & 4; LGBA will try to obtain a number of tickets for the membership, for the 9 o'clock shows on Wed. and Thur.; we'll also try to do the same for the 11 o'clock show on Fri., and also hope Elaine Maccio and the members from GLYS can come join us that night, since it's their activity night anyhow...; tckts from UUAB are $2.50 each for students; the following Monday we are scheduled to do a GRASP program for GLYS...

  • Julie Carter would like to do her dissertation in relation to the experiences of lesbians ages 16-22; please give her a call at (phone numbers removewd in web version) to see if you can help her out; also, let's remember to pass this info on to GLYS...

    • Chris Deavers has resigned as co-president
      Martin will be going to school in Connecticut next semester
      Vanessa has resigned as vice president
      Omar will be taking a leave of absence next semester
      as a result, the only officer sticking around will be me, tina c.

      ***** ELECTIONS WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 9 AT REGULAR WEEKLY MEETING, 12 NOON IN THE OFFICE, 362 SU *****

    to be eligible to vote, you must have attended 2 of the 5 meetings immediately previous to the elections

    to be eligible to run for a position, you must be a full-time student of the Division of Undergraduate Education with a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

    PLEASE COME AND VOTE!!!!! for the elections to be valid, we must have a quorom of the membership voting, and then the nominees must receive at least "50% + 1" of the votes cast to be legitimately elected, EVEN IF they are running uncontested ("vote of confidence")

    also, once the new officers have been elected, the e-board will be looking into possibly filling at least three appointed positions: Office Manager,(appointed by the secretary) Special Projects Coordinator, (appointed by the Vie Prez) and Librarian...(will be ammended to the constitution). Please see one of the officers if you are interested in serving in these capacities.

  • for the rest of the semester, Jill Duffy has been appointed to serve as interim VP.

  • lastly, the listserv is now under Liz Holland's direction: contact her at ech@acsu.buffalo.edu or visit the LGBA webpage to be added or taken off.

  • The constitution is going to be revised! pls. contact Martin to get involved with the revision committee.

  • Bhavana encourages everyone to view the movie "Strawberry Fields" Thur. Nov.19th at 8pm in the CFA Screening Room

  • The conference committee will be meeting Monday night Nov.23rd at 8:30pm in the office
