Meeting Minutes

Minutes: 11/18/99

Minutes by Michele Tucker, LGBA Secretary

--mike and eric from the environmental network attended our meeting to speak to us about Socially Responsible Investing at UB. They would like to create a committee with other clubs to address this issue. We discussed it and decided we didn't have a voting quarum, or whatever it's called. please try to attend the next meeting, in two weeks, in hopes that we can vote on whether or not to support this endeavor.

-David DelBello has done it again. What, you may ask? Well, he's written a bullshit op-ed for Spectrum regarding SA and how no one needs it. Well, all, WE are funded by SA, and if SA is ever discontinued, our gay asses will be sitting out in the cold without funding or an office. we would like to get together with some other clubs [maybe the other SISH clubs?] and compose an official response. btw, he wants to take our e-board out to dinner. that little bitch can pay for my dinner any day, but he'd better not expect anything in return.

-some of our members would like to get involved with anti- rape task force. those who expressed interest were myself, liz, jamie, melissa, ilana, olive, rachelle, and kathryn.

-i will be forming a publicity committee. some of the duties of this weekly committee will be to make flyers, post them, post announcements in Spectrum, update calendars, compose press releases, and mailings. sounds like fun, huh? woo!

--the banners for LGBA still need to be made. i believe that the Visual Identity Committee, headed by Lisa, will be doing this contact her if you're interested.

--the GLYS gala-- we think it's Dec. 3rd, and that the price for LGBA members will be $20. People who have expressed interest thus far are myself, Liz, Melissa, and Olive. If you're interested let Liz or myself know. The price includes a fabulous dinner and dancing at the Hyatt with lots of rich and prominent Buffalo gay people. Sounds cool to me.

--we voted to join/volunteer for the Empire State Pride Agenda.

-in other news, Rachelle and Kathryn were bad.

--WORLD AIDS DAY-- Dec. 1-- ideas?

--Olive requested some PAS easter egg coloring.....no seriously, she inquired about an AIDS/HIV survivor magazine called POS. we don't have it, which leads to our next item......

--THE LIBRARY. We will be requesting a grant for our library next semester, so start brainstorming as to what books you guys think we should have, and on what topics. Give your requests, complete with titles and authors, to your friendly librarian, melissa, by the end of the semester.

--if you're going to the Sabres game, give Troy your $20 ASAP. his e-mail is, i believe, poremba@acsu.buffalo.edu

--KEEP THE OFFICE CLEAN. If you don't throw out your garbage, the whole office is going to suffer for it and food privliges will be completely revoked. Also, if you are te last person to leave the office at night, take five minutes and tidy it up a little. There is no reason for someone to enter the office in the morning and find it filthy. It makes us look bad and our Office Manager is not a personal maid.

--also, in a related request, please don't write obscene things on the board. both new members and sometimes people from SA come in the office and again, it just makes our organization look bad.

--No Frills 4 is looking for photographers, models, workers, PR people, etc, to help out. The event benefits ACS, and, if you're interested, contact rjt3@acsu.buffalo.edu for more info. the website is as follows..... www.geocities.com/SoHo/Square/6958/page5.html

--the Women's Ball, put on by the women's center, will be held Dec 11th @ Harriman Hall, 8 pm. Tickets, it was said, are supposedly $7 or free if you are a member. Included will be dinner, dancing, an award ceremony, and varied performances. Semiformal.

-so, that's that, guys. work, work, work....

-fierce.
your friendly secretary michele
