Meeting MinutesOctober 30, 2003 Meeting Start Time: 7:05 7:06Minutes Passed around. (Approved 7:28) 7:07Upcoming Events -Spectrum, Buffalo's transgender support group is going to participating in a national day of remembrance, and candle vigil sometime in November. We will be co-sponsoring the event with them. -FASA will be having a dance festival featuring our own miss prissy. -November 19th RHA will be having a Condom Casino at 7pm in Goodyear 10. They are looking to incorporate LGBT prospective. To do this they are looking for facts, very similar to the slid show we were going to do for coming out week. These facts should be a little more focused on HIV transmission and how it relates to the LGBT community. -The New Student Center will be having a program called Can Come Out at UB? on November 5th from 12pm-1pm in 250 Student Union. 7:12Upcoming GRASPs -We have finally received a request for some GRASP programs. We will be doing on for the Woman Studies Pedagogy class on November 12th. The class is from 2-5:30; the professor is giving us a 50 min spot to present. There will be a meeting for those interested in participating before the class for organizational purposes. -We have been invited to do a couple of programs by Lorenzo. The specifics are still being worked out. Those who can't make the previous program shouldn't worry; there will be plenty of opportunities to help out in the future. 7:14Blow Pops Sale -We will be encumbering for the blow pops next week. Members will be responsible for blow pops that they take. Please feel free to take as many as you would like to sell. Hopefully they will be available before the next meeting. 7:16Community Service -Friday was the last day for the food/clothing drive thank to everyone who donated. -The boxes for Trick-or-Treat for UNCIEF need to be turned in on Monday. -Shaun and Rachel will be going shopping for toys for us to donate to the Toys for Tots. Anyone who would like to donated needs to make sure that the toys are new, and family appropriate. If you would like to give Shaun a monetary donation, he would be willing to pick up something on your behalf. 7:18Pot Luck Dinner -We turned in our room request for one of the 145 rooms. Hopefully, we will be able to get a space. -Plan on there not being a on November 20th, and start thinking about what dish you want to bring. -There will be a sign up sheet going up in a couple of weeks, so that we can get a head count, so we can figure out what size turkey we are going to need. 7:20Interesting Spring Class -There will be a new Woman's Studies Course (WS335/Eng371) entitled Girl Interrupted. The professor is really excited about the course. Please feel free to contact the professor at courseinfo2004@yahoo.com. -The Latino/Latina Studies department will be having a course deconstructing the masculinity in Latin culture. The course is cross listed as LLS 402/ENG 402. 7:25Movie Night -Did anyone bring the movie? -We have the movie Flawless, if we would like to watch it for this week. -Next week's movie. Do you want watch Scary Movie 2 or choose a new movie. - Suggestions: Female Troubles: 3 Gia: 5 Bound: 4 Abstentions: 6 -Next weeks movie will be Gia. 7:28Open Floor -Recommendation of Female Troubles as a kick ass movie, and grievances expressed about its not being chosen. -Biology Student Association is looking for tutors for evolutionary biology.
