Meeting Minutes April 24, 2003Meeting start time: 7:58 Summer Club Activities -Anyone who is going to be around this summer please sign up on the wall in the office or contact Rachel with your contact information. This will help us to keep you informed of Buffalo events over the summer, as well as possible social gatherings. -Sunday, June 8th is Buffalo’s Pride parade. We are planning on marching again this year with our banner. -We will also be contacting other schools to come and join us, possible in a segment of the parade entitled “advocates of the future?” The details are still being worked out. -We are looking for a low budget presence this year, most due to the fact we can’t afford anything too big this year. -Those interested will be contacted if the sign up/ voice interest to the new e-board. Fundraising -We have several loan payments to make over the summer, we are really hoping to get some help in raising some money over the summer, so that we don’t have to apportion a significant part of next years budget to payment. -we are looking to approach local businesses, throwing a car wash/bake sale, doing another raffle. Basically ideas with little initial cost, which could help to generate money. -anyone with ideas or interest in helping, please see one of the incoming e board. Office use during exam week -the office will be open until May 9th; this is something new that next years e-board is trying out. In years past the office has been closed on the last day of classes. We are thinking that office help members to distress between exams, etc. There are some stipulations, there might not necessarily be an e board member in the office at all times, they have exams too. So the key might have to be borrowed from SA to open the office. We are also asking that you turn off things and close up the office when you are the last person leaving, and that you clean up food and mess before you go. The New Couch. -the old rust colored couch has gone on to its just rewards, after an incident with some critters that were found under the couch not too long ago. -conveniently around the time we were seeking to remove the old couch CAC down the hall had a couch that they couldn’t fit into their office, so they generously donated it to us. -Please, please clean up after yourselves, we don’t want any more infestations, if it happens again there are serious considerations of removing eating privileges in the office altogether. -also the new couch isn’t anchored so well yet, so use caution, it won’t be able to withstand some of the abuse of the other couches. Confidentiality. -this has been a little bit of a problem this year, and the e board really would like to correct next year. -Outside the office we need to be careful and conscious about name dropping, we need to follow the general rule, and check with people about their comfort levels. We want to maintain the office as a safe space, and not jeopardize anyone’s privacy. -This especially applies to those attending COSG. This is something that will be enforced next year. -new rule for COSG will be that anyone who breaks confidentiality will not be allowed to come to COSG. Meeting end: 8:27 |
