Meeting Minutes March 11, 2004Meeting Start Time: 7:13pm 7:14 Attendance were passed around7:14 Ryan Furey recently has resigned his position as the President. Because we need to fill the President position, Vice President of this club, Rachel Parrino has stepped up and filled his position. We are currently leaving the Vice President’s position open until the elections.7:16 Elections - Elections for next year’s club e-board will be on April 8th. Nominations will be taken during our general meetings starting on March 25th. All nominations must be seconded. - Descriptions of the positions are available in the club constitution available on the club website or in the office. - All nominees should prepare for questioning and a brief speech by the general meeting on April 8th. - In order to be a voting member, one must have attended 2 out of last 5 meetings. There will be a list of voting members available during the election meeting. Graduate students only counts as ¼ of a vote.7:18 Social - Thank you to anyone who attended the movie outing “Monster”. - Shaun is planning on having at least another one during April. If you have any ideas or suggestions please e-mail him and him know.7:22 Upcoming Events - Patricia Cronon’s Art show. It will be on Friday March 26th. Posters have gone up, and if anyone is available for P.R. work over Spring Break please let Rachel know. - Woodlawn Cemetery Tour Will be on Saturday March 27th. The artist will be giving a free tour of Wood Lawn cemetery. - Masquerade Will be held on April 1st at 7pm. Tickets are $5 for students, and $10 of non-students. Everyone who attends the dance will be required to wear a mask. There will be a Best Mask/Costume competition. Winners will receive $75, $50, and $25 for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively. WRUB will DJ for this event. Half of the proceeds will go to Aids and Community Services Shan is currently the coordinator for the decoration of this event. Anyone who is interested in helping please contact her. - Speakers Will be on April 2nd at 7pm in 112 Norton. It’s free, please come and show your support. The speakers will be the first married couples in Canada. - Same Sex Forum Organized by the Diversity Committee It’s going to be held on Tuesday March 23rd at noon - Day of Silence Will be Wednesday April 21st. Shirts will be provided to the club members for free. Please sign up with your name and the size of the t-shirt you would like. The sizes are XS – XL. We will be silent from 9-5pm. The office will be closed, and there will be a lunch gathering in the Flag room of the Union during that day. The office door will be defaced, and an explanation will be posted on the door. There will be an information table on Monday April 19th. It has improved a lot from last year. Unfortunately some rules needs to be followed more closely. - Rule # 4: Respect Please do not cross this line, even if there’s an argument. - Rule # 7: Gossip Please keep the gossip to a minimum. - Rule # 5: Assumptions Please do not make any assumptions about anyone or anything.8:00 SISH Endorsement Meeting - Will be held on Monday April 22 at 5pm in room 330SU. This is for SA elections.Melissa Ferrick - Unfortunately there has been no response from her for concert. 8:03 Open Floor - Matt Lesley Feinberg will be speaking on April 3rd, look for flyer in the office. - Nick We can get community service by volunteering for the Pride Center in West New York. UB Con will be on April 2nd – 4th. It will be a non-stop gaming event. There will be prizes and vendors. Lasertron will be all of Friday night. - Tara Women Studies course offering flyers are up. Please take a look at them. - Lorenzo This club has not fundraised enough this year. If we want our budget to be the way it is or having it increased, there must be a significant amount of money fundraised.
