Spring 2003 Meeting #3
~Meeting began at 8:01pm in 362 Student Union~
-The meeting minutes from meetings 1 and 2 were approved.
-We did not have a prize drawing at this meeting - Target no longer accepts PO's.
-General Meetings will be held on Thursdays at 8pm from now on. Movie night has moved back to Tuesday nights, at 7pm.
-If you, or someone you know, has pictures that you would like to have posted on the club website, send them to Rachel at rparrino@buffalo.edu, or give a hard copy to her to scan. Club members, and club related things only are preferred. If other people are present in the picture who are not club members, we must receive consent from them before we will post a picture including them on the website.
-If you have any known conflicts regarding the Toronto trip for Saturday, 2/8, please make them known to Rachel immediately.
-If you are interested in participating in the dating game, as described in meeting #1, please let an E-board member know.
-We will be tabling and fundraising in the Student Union on February 28, as a part of Wellness day.
-We will need volunteers to sit at tables at various gay clubs and/or bars in Buffalo for fundraising soon. Please let an E-board member know if you can help.
Other ideas for fundraising at the moment include: Casino night, a 50/50 during the SA dating game, and raffling off our DVD player.
-Wednesdays at Voulkers, a bowling alley, is gay bowling night.
-On 2/14, we will be joining SOSA for a "get married for the day" type event. A couple (for fun, or otherwise), can have their picture taken that day. Talk to Shaun if you are interested in this.
-Due to the overall lack of demand for GRASP seminars as of late, please let us know if you know of anyone who would like to have our GRASP program come to them.
-The office was cleaned recently by Rachel and T.J.. As it is space that we all use together on a regular basis, please try to keep it that way as much as possible.
-We would like to encourage discussions and otherwise open ageda type segments to our meetings on a regular basis from now on. We're hoping that our meetings can become more than simple updates from the E-board on club events and such.
In the spirit of this intent, we had a very extensive discussion about activism in our club, since we do consider ourselves an activist organization, but lately, have been less active in that way than would be ideal. Ultimately, we decided to gather gay related facts, make small cards with said information printed on them, and attach them to suckers to be passed out around campus to encourage awareness. Donations to buy suckers are currently being accepted and should be directed to Rachel. Also, please bring in any interesting gay type facts that you may find or know of and put them in the folder on the wall in the office.
-Other ideas we discussed included more participation with Freedom to Marry day, and a monthly newsletter dealing with gay issues of any kind from around the world.
