Spring 2002 Meeting #1
~Meeting began at 8:05pm in 362 Student Union~
-As a general announcement, we will be having a lottery drawing for a small prize each meeting for those who attend the meeting.
-The rules were briefly restated for the start of the new semester. Please ask an E-board member about them if you have any questions.
-Fundraising:
Last semester, we spent a lot of money. We took out a loan to get us out of the red, but we still pay around $300 every month to keep it that way. As such, fundraising is going to be a big part of what we're doing this semester. Ed, our Treasurer is in charge of this, so get in contact with him if you'd like to help. Also, if anyone knows anyone who would like to make a sizable cash donation to the club, we have forms to write those donations off on your taxes.
-The SA Dating Game will take place again this semester on February 13th. The LGBTA has had volunteers from the club participate in this event in a gay segment. Let an officer know if you would be interested in participating this year (We will most likely need a team of 4 boys, 4 girls, or both). This event is purely for fun and the show of it. No actual dating is obligated.
-The E-board will keep a record of participation in club events and overall activity throughout the member roster.
-Our programs for this semester are: Coming Out Support Group (COSG), Gender Roles and Sexuality Program (GRASP), and Gay Movie Night.
-The general meeting time was voted on - General Meetings will now be held on Tuesdays and 8pm.
-Gay Movie Night will be held on Thursday, at 6 or 8pm. Check with an E-board member in the near future for confirmation.
-COSG will still be held on Fridays at 5pm.
-On February 8th, those who signed up will be boarding the SA vans to head up to the University of Toronto for their Drag Extravaganza (AKA, Studio 54). The trip is from 5pm to 12/1am. Some may be staying overnight.
-The Office will (has already) been cleaned by Rachel and T.J.. Please keep it clean, as it is everyone's space.
-We will be getting a new, donated couch to replace the one that's sitting on cinder blocks.
-After each general meeting, we will hold some small, informational programs, IE Gays in History, Religion, etc. Ed is in charge of this. Please let him know if you'd like to help in any way.
-The LGBTA/OUTLAW Spring Banquet will be held on March 27th, from 7pm-9:30pm. The tickets will cost about $20/$15 and 5 free tickets will be awarded to the most active members. Guest speakers for the banquet include Camille Hopkins, the Vice President of Pride Buffalo, Byron Brown, and Antone Robinson.
-Though it is somewhat far off (around June), we are trying to gather support from Colleges all over the area to march in a "College Section" of the Buffalo Gay Pride Parade.
