Announcements

Interested in becoming an officer?

These positions look great on resumes, help you gain some leadership experience, and will allow you to become involved in the community. Many of our current officers are graduating this year and we need people to lead our chapter. If you are interested in becoming an officer, please contact our president, Amanda Clark, at adclark3@buffalo.edu.

Honor Cords

Golden Key members are encouraged to wear honor cords at graduation. For those of you that have earned enough points, you are eligible to receive FREE honor cords. To review how points are allocated, go here. To find out how many points you have, e-mail Rachel Nadbrzuch at rln2@buffalo.edu. If you don't have quite enough points yet, make sure to check out the upcoming events below because you could earn the rest of your points by the end of the semester!

If you don't think you'll be able to earn enough points, you do have the option of buying the Honor Cords yourself. This can be done through the Golden Key Online Store at http://www.goldenkeystore.org/. If you click on "Graduation Merchandise" you will see the cords available for $14.

Alumni Listserv

Would you like to stay in touch with the UB Chapter of Golden Key after graduation? Join the Alumni listserv to receive periodic e-mails letting you know what current members are up to. Make sure to use your non-UB e-mail address!

Upcoming Events

Go to Events & Meetings to see everything that is planned for the semester.

Book Drive - April 28-May 8

We are running a book drive in conjunction with Better World Books and will benefit the National Center for Family Literacy, an organization changing lives by providing literacy materials and training to 6,000 programs across the U.S. There will be large green collection bins around campus. Locations will soon be announced. Please consider dropping off any college level textbooks that you are no longer in need of, would like to donate to help support literacy, and/or that the bookstore would not buy back. In addition, sharing this information with fellow students is really needed to help spread the word!

We will be setting up the Collection Bins on April 28th at 1:00pm and we will be collecting all the books on May 8th at 11:00am. If you are available and interested in helping please contact Ada Lee at xoxoswtdreamer@hotmail.com.

UB Pride and Service Day - Tuesday, April 29

UB Pride and Service Day is a volunteer event held in the spring semester for students to help clean up and beautify the UB campus. Students give back to the university, clean up and plant trees in an effort to show pride towards UB. We will be joining other groups of students to help clean up around our campus. If you sign up you will receive a FREE T-SHIRT and afterwards there is a FREE BBQ for those who volunteered. If interested, please email Amanda at adclark3@buffalo.edu.

UB Chapter History

The University at Buffalo chapter of Golden Key International Honour Society was chartered on April 6, 1989. It is one of the 24 chapters that comprise the Northeast Region. Dr. Peter Gold established UB's chapter with the hopes of seeing a university-wide honor society that recognizes scholarly achievements without the barriers of separate majors. Today it remains an active chapter committed to involving its members in meaningful activities to enrich their academic experience.

UB Chapter Mission

Our mission is to recognize and encourage scholastic achievement and excellence in all undergraduate fields of study, to promote fellowship among its members and other students, to provide educational events and opportunities, and to foster communication among faculty, administrators (especially honorary members) and students on campus. The focus of the chapter shall be to provide voluntary service events and opportunities for its members and other members of the UB community. In all that it does, the chapter shall strive to establish high visibility and a positive image on campus and beyond, and to achieve regional and international distinction within the Society for its accomplishments.
