Olmstead Tree Planting!
Time: 9AM-12PM

With our largest group yet, (going to group picture to name everyone, haha) Sabila, Meaghan, Krystal, Patty, Tiffany, Julie, Loretta, Katy, Janet, Dan, David, and I went out to plant some beautiful baby trees... Baby trees of all sizes... some.. a little too heavy for us to handle. Hahaha. Don't worry we learned and we will apply these skills onto our next tree planting events. Hehe. Although our shoes got extremely muddy (and took an hour to remove and wash) it was fun and worth it. Yay!

APRIL 2008

Saturday of Service
Time: 8:30am- 2pm
Place: Food Bank of WNY
Recap: Julie, Loretta, Mimi, Shana, Bill, and Ivy came out on such a foggy, EARLY morning to help out the Food Bank to package food items. You'd think it'd be boring, but boy was fun! We met some new people and learned new stuff (like there's a canned spinach brand called "Popeye" or that people donate can goods that have been expired in 1991). Pictures will be up soon! Maybe if we do this again, YOU can join the fun!

American Cancer Society: Relay for Life

Place: Alumni Arena, at University at Buffalo
Recap: This year's theme for our Relay for Life was MONOPOLY! We arrived at the Alumni Arena at around 12pm, the many different Monopoly designs and characters were beautifully displayed, but was far from completing the set ups. We realized that we can use the time to shop a little for our little (overnight) adventure. Once we came back to the Alumni, tables (and tents) of all different clubs and organizations were set up. Our club's fundraising event was appropriately titled as "Jail 'n Bail." We started to set up our "jail" spot and when we obtained a pair of PINK, FUZZY handcuffs, we got curious looks from everyone. Once we explained the rules, people were excited to "arrest" their friends. Basically, one person bought a ticket to arrest someone. He/she would point that "lucky" person to the "police officer" and will be arrested... and their friends would laugh their heads off. Sometimes it was difficult to arrest someone; people actually started to run away! But it was a fun night, raising a lot more money than we expected because of the popularity of our activity. After it was about 1am of the next day, we started to clean up and play other things- Apple-to-Apples, making origami flowers, making and playing catch with a ball made out of duct tape.

Overall this event was a HUGE success. We are looking forward to expand our club so many more members can experience our fun. LOOK OUT FOR RELY FOR LIFE 2009!

SA Getting Dirty II
Time: 11am-2pm
Place: Meet at Crosby Hall on South Campus
Recap: Another clean up! (We love to pick up other people's trash...) Sometimes... it's fun and very exciting: finding a whole pack of raw hot dogs behind a tree... or an unscratched lottery ticket (sorry, we didn't win)... or even a pre-tweenage angst letter, filled with misspelled words and major grammar mistakes.
And afterwards, free pizza and drinks! =]

Movie Marathon

Time: 2pm-10pm
Place: 210 Student Union
Details: James Bond movie marathon
Recap: Who knew James Bond movies were so great and hilarious! Half the people that attended actually never watched James Bond movies, so watching three different ones (Goldfinger, Moonraker, The World is Not Enough), it's hard not to be a fan. [The characters of "Oddjobs and Jaws"?! GOLDEN!]
We will definitely have more Movie Marathons in the future! TUNE IN!
