The Counseling Division is responsible for placing
persons interested in volunteering in programs related to counseling.
Varying degrees of training are provided by the counseling agencies
to prepare the volunteer for the delivery of services. Programs
range from just being a friend and role model to a child, to working
at counseling centers.

Big Brother/Sister Program
This is a program for young people who are in need of support outside of the family setting. Volunteers are matched with a child and spend time with him/her once a week. It is important that once a relationship is established, it is continued. If you aren't interested in a long
commitment, there are smaller programs offered as well.
**Special note** Starting in the Fall 2006 semester, the
University at Buffalo will be providing transportation from UB North
Campus on Mondays and Wednesdays for Site Based Mentors. Volunteers
will catch a specially designated bus at Flint Loop at 3pm and be
returned by 5:30pm
