Welcome to the long-awaited, oft-postponed, third issue of the Journal of World Anthropology. It has been two years since we started on this journey, and we regret to note that we have not been able to spend as much time on the project as we would have liked. Thank you to everyone for being so patient!

In this and the next issue, we are publishing the backlog of material submitted since our last effort. This is a bountiful harvest, including commentaries on archaeology from an artist's perspective, tatoos, learning strategies, constructs of reality and collectivity, as well as the usual, thoughtful series of book and software reviews.

This issue will complete our first volume. While we originally had intended to publish a quarterly, it now appears that JWA has become a true *periodical*! Perhaps this reflects the great overwhelming influence on the Internet, breaking down boundaries of time and space....

Regardless, in light of the ever-growing piles of books and the declining space in our laboratory, we have decided for purely practical reasons to concentrate on reviews and hope to expedite the process. For those of you who find extra time on your hands in this northern summer season, expect to receive a list of books for review a little later this spring.
