Searching Tips
Hints
- Searches are case insensitive and word order is not important.
- Searches will match partial words to full words.
- Database entries are in English.
- You may enter more than one term separated by a comma. These words are searched with Boolean AND.
- Searches between fields default to Boolean AND. You may chage the default and use OR to combine your terms.
Search Fields
- Title Word(s) will search for one or more words in an item's title.
- Subject(s) will search for an assigned subject term. Subject terms are considered in the broadest sense of the topic.
- Distributor will search for the person or organization distributing the item.
- Producer will search for the organization producing the item.
- Reviewer will search for the person who reviewed the item.
Limiting Searches
- If your search retrieves a large number of items, you may limit or narrow your search by one of the following fields:
- Subject (choose one from the pull-down menu)
- Year - copyright year
- Format - searches for the medium, i.e. video, cd-rom, or other
Browsing
- You may browse the entire database by one of the
following categories: program year, title, reviewer, distributor, or
subject
- Results are sorted alphabetically.
