UB Blogs

Recruitment Blogs

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions launched five blogs in September 2005. The goal of these blogs is to provide a genuine, athentic view of what it's like to attend UB as an undergraduate student. In addition, a member of the University Honors Program is spending the year studying abroad at Oxford University in England and will use a blog to chronicle his experiences.

Expert Blogs

In October 2005, the Pre-Law Web site was relaunched as a web/blog hybrid. The home page contains posts from Jon Bonbrake, the prelaw academic advisor. Jon shares his thoughts and commentary on items of interest to prelaw students. In addition, there are twenty static webpages that were part of the original site. The entire site is built in WordPress which acts as a CMS giving Jon the ability to update all pages and posts directly.

Replacements for Electronic Newsletters

In September 2005, two electronic newsletters published by Student Advising Services were replaced with blogs. "Be Advised" and "The Scholarly Times" are now updated directly by advisors using WordPress. The information is now more timely and students like the option of getting information either via the Web or RSS feeds.
