Veterans
Veteran and dependents of veterans need to be aware of how the GI Bill and other veterans benefits may affect their financial aid. New students to the University at Buffalo who have not used any Veterans Affairs (VA) educational assistance programs should contac the Office of Veterans Affairs.
Combined tuition benefits cannot exceed the student’s total tuition costs. Tuition payments received under the Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33 veteran benefits) are considered duplicative of the Veterans Tuition Awards (VTA) and/or Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) awards. Students receiving tuition assistance through these programs may, and in most cases, will have their New York State VTA and/or TAP payment reduced or deniedsince they are duplicative benefits.
You can fill out appropriate paperwork at The University of Buffalo’s Office of Veterans Affairs, located in the Ellicott Complex, Room 175 Fillmore (past the Food Court) on the North Campus or e-mail ub-vets@buffalo.edu for more information.
Veterans are encouraged to apply for federal and state assistance as needed. Go to the Office of Financial Aid homepage for detailed instructions.
Information subject to change without notice due to changes in federal, state and/or institutional rules and regulations.
