Financial Literacy Program
The University at Buffalo’s Financial Literacy Program is designed to help students understand the basics of money management. Our engaging workshops will provide you with the knowledge and tools, so you can take action to plan and achieve your financial goals.

Life & Learning Workshops
- NEW! Banking Your Bucks: This workshop will cover the basics of banking, questions to ask, tips, and more.
- NEW! Graduation Approaching: Finances After College: 10 financial things you should be thinking about as graduation approaches including understanding your new salary, retirement plans, and taxes.
- 40 Financial Tips Every College Student Should Know: Topics discussed include checking accounts, financial aid, jobs, residence life, cutting expenses, credit and debt, and savings.
- Money Management for Students: Topics discussed include controlling spending, creating a savings habit, dealing with debt, protecting identities, and managing risk.
- Budgeting: Creating your Spending Plan: This workshop will encourage you to track your expenses, consider your wants and needs, and recognize that money management is about making wise choices and living within your budget.
- Understanding Your Credit: This workshop, focused primarily on credit cards, is designed to help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of credit, the costs associated with using credit, the danger signs of “credit stress,” and the importance of maintaining a good credit history.
- Dealing with Debt: The specific focus of this workshop is on recognizing signs of trouble, managing debt, avoiding quick fixes, and implementing a plan to get rid of debt.
- 25 Tips to Stretch Your Dollars: This workshop will give you quick tips to help you stretch your money and leave college with manageable debt.
- Preventing Identity Theft: This workshop is designed to provide you with facts about identity theft, tips for preventing identity theft, and steps to take if you become a victim.
