Design:
Our full range of graphic design and typesetting services provide you with the greatest flexibility in developing your own project.
Please call for more information!
Please call us for an appointment at 829-3528 to discuss your project in person. During the initial phone call, we will discuss the job and let you know what additional steps you may need to take in planning your project, such as contacting Campus Mail, so when you bring your project to us we can start immediately.
Typesetting:
We have Macintosh and PC based desktop publishing systems utilizing Adobe inDesign and PageMaker. We ask that all NEW jobs be supplied as text files on disk, in either Macintosh or PC word processing program formats. We will format the text, doing more extensive design work as requested. We do not accept handwritten copy.
Art/Design:
We can design one or two color brochures, flyers, posters, etc for inhouse offset printing. We can assist you in designing full color flyers or posters that can be printed on our color digital printer or color poster printer.
What Do We Need From You To Do A Project?
A filled out Print & Mail Services work order form.
Sufficient lead time to complete your project. Please allow time for all stages of the project and enough time for mailing and a response if needed. This includes typographic work including design and possibly several proofs, ordering special paper and inks, printing, binding work, and mailing (if we are to do that, additional coordination for the job with our Mail Management Service will be necessary).
Your text - which includes any wording to appear from the front cover to a return address, including any captions, MUST be supplied on disk in PC or Macintosh word processing format files. We do not provide any editorial services. Text changes we might make are those that involve use of the University name or policy and those necessitated by Postal regulations.
Photos, if any digital files of photos and glossy black and white continuous tone prints work best, color prints will not reproduce as well when converted to one color. Photos from magazines will not work because they already have a dot pattern on them plus they are most likely copyrighted. We do not supply photos. All photos to be used in a job must be brought at the same time as the text so that we will have all the necessary elements to design your project.
LOGOS: (Other than standard UB seals) - If you wish to reproduce a logo for an organization, school, etc., you must give us good quality black and white line art. If you have an electronic file please call to see if we can use it. Official UB logos can be found at: http://www.buffalo.edu/toolbox/visualidentity. Other logos must be approved by the University's Graphic Review Panel.
REFERENCE MATERIAL: for artwork. You can supply appropriate clippings, textbooks, etc. for us to use as a point of departure in doing designs. We will not reproduce any copyrighted material, but will use this material to get ideas that are relevant to your subject matter.
SAMPLES: You can bring printed samples, such as brochures, flyers, etc., as examples for size, fold, kind of paper, color combinations, etc.
