Members of Phi Eta Sigma will have the opportunity to receive scholarships at two different levels:

1. UB Chapter of PES Scholarships – More information will be available Spring semester 2008.
2. National PES Scholarships – Information on the National Scholarship is listed below and can also be found on the national website www.phietasigma.org.

National Scholarship Information:

Statute VII of the Phi Eta Sigma Constitution provides that all income from the Founders Scholarship Fund shall be used to grant scholarships and awards to Phi Eta Sigma members.

Fund income available for the 2007-08 academic year will be $225,000.
1 Scholarship available for $10,000 Thomas Arkle Clark Scholar-Leader of-the-Year Scholarship.
4 Scholarships available for $7,500 Endowed Graduate Scholarships.
34 Scholarships available for $4,000 Endowed Undergraduate Scholarships.
49 Awards available for $1,000 Undergraduate Awards.

In addition to the scholarships and awards listed above, the $10,000 Thomas Arkle Clark Scholar-Leader of the Year Endowed Scholarship, named in honor of the founder and first Grand President of Phi Eta Sigma, will be awarded for the first time in the 2006-07 academic year. This scholarship will be presented to the member who, in the judgment of our Scholarship Committee, best exemplifies the ideals of Phi Eta Sigma and will be chosen from those scholarship applicants who choose to be considered for this recognition.

Applicants MUST be members of Phi Eta Sigma. Those applying for undergraduate scholarships or awards must be nominated by their chapters. Any member may apply for a graduate scholarship.

The committee uses the following criteria in selecting recipients:
1. High scholastic record with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA.
2. Participation in local chapter activities.
3. Evidence of creative ability.
4. Potential for success in chosen field.
5. Letters of recommendation, not to exceed three.

All applications for undergraduate scholarships should be submitted to the chapter adviser for approval by the local deadline date given on the application form. Each chapter of Phi Eta Sigma may submit at least one undergraduate application. Chapters that inducted 150 or more members last year may submit two undergraduate applications, and those that inducted 300 or more members last year may submit three undergraduate applications. All scholarship applications must be postmarked to Nationals no later than March 1.

Chapters may submit as many graduate applications as they deem appropriate. Applications for graduate scholarships may be sent directly to the secretary of the Scholarship Committee at the national office address or may be submitted to the chapter adviser so that all chapter applications may be sent to the national office in one mailing. All scholarship applications must be postmarked to Nationals no later than March 1.
