What is Phi Eta Sigma?
Phi Eta Sigma is a National Honors Society founded in 1923 at the University of Illinois. Phi Eta Sigma is the oldest and largest honor society with over 353 Chapters throughout the nation for outstanding first-year college students who have managed to achieve an overall 3.5 - 4.0 GPA at the top twenty percent of their class. Phi Eta Sigma exists to promote academic excellence, community involvement, and social networking to help its members better improve their college experience and onward. Since its founding, Phi Eta Sigma has inducted over 900,000 members and continues to grow each year, offering students an opportunity of a lifetime to better themselves and stand above and beyond ordinary. As a group, Phi Eta Sigma stands by its motto, "Knowledge is Power!"

What are the requirements to become part of Phi Eta Sigma?
All first-year students who have achieved a 3.5 - 4.0 GPA at the end of their first year are invited to become a part of our National Honors Society in recognition of their academic excellence. All majors are welcomed!

Must I maintain my average?
No, a lifetime membership is conferred once inducted as a member of Phi Eta Sigma. As Phi Eta Sigma, we strive to promote academic excellence throughout your college years and offer members a chance to establish a lifetime network with other members.

What is included in the membership fee?
First and foremost, Phi Eta Sigma offers all their engaging members a college experience like no other through social, academic, and philanthropic events. Also, Phi Eta Sigma offers its members a chance to become part of a diverse organization in all different majors. To help promote Phi Eta Sigma member's academic achievements, we offer many scholarships and awards to both outstanding undergraduate and graduate Phi Eta Sigma members. A portion of the membership fee goes towards the Founders Fund, which provides fifty or more national graduate or undergraduate endowed scholarships of up to $7,500 each and fifty or more national undergraduate awards of $1,000. One $10,000 Scholar-Leader-of-the-Year scholarship is also awarded annually.

Who is eligible for these scholarships?
Cash scholarships of up to $7,500 and awards of $1,000 are provided to members of Phi Eta Sigma selected by the national scholarship committee. One $10,000 Scholar-Leader-of-the-Year scholarship is also awarded annually. Members applying for the undergraduate scholarships and awards, as well as the Scholar-Leader of the Year Award, must be nominated by their chapters. Any Phi Eta Sigma member may apply for the graduate scholarships.

Why should I join Phi Eta Sigma?
