Al Moyer has taken a position as Chief Information Officer with Volvo Aero Services (http://www.volvoaeroservices.com), located in Boca Raton, Florida, but hopes to make it to occasional weekend practices with the team. Good luck in the new position!




Ric Marable suffered a fractured shoulder and plenty of road rash after a biking accident at the Tour de Cure fundraiser on Saturday June 1st. Best wishes for a speedy recovery

Don Tucker, in the same accident, was knocked unconscious and ended up with a concussion. Thankfully he was wearing a helmet. The team's thoughts are prayers are with both Ric and Don.

Kim Szul swam for Niagara University for four years, and was team captain for two years. She's teaching 2nd grade at school 36 in Buffalo.

Chris Ankrum successfully completed the Boston Marathon and just completed his 1st Ironman Triathlon (Ironman Canada-British Columbia), finishing in 11 hours 19 minutes (swim 1:06:15, bike 5:40:57, run 4:21:07).

Quinn Ankrum has returned to Buffalo after a summer opera stint in Virginia. She is now teaching part-time on the music faculty at SUNY Fredonia. She is also an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay, offering free facials, skin care classes, and excellent service. No more standing in line at the mall!

Demaree Brady works in Pediatric Dentistry at Children's Hospital, and is a volunteer organizer for the Miles-for-Smiles organization.

Mike Conroy is an insurance agent with the Walsh Duffield Agency and sells auto, home and business insurance. Mike swam for UB back when it was "of" not "at" in the late 60's. Bill Sanford, for whom the break room is named, was the coach. Trivia question: Who held the school record for the 200 Fly back then? Ted Costich and his wife Robin have a new arrival: a baby daughter, born on September 14th.

Chris Darlak teaches chemistry at North Tonawanda High School.

Kelly Darlak is a graduate student at UB in the Pharm D program in the School of Pharmacy.

Greg Davis says that, until two years ago, he was "strictly a runner." A Nickel City team member urged him to consider swimming as good cross-training. Now he says, "[I] can't tell which workout I like best!" Greg works for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, and says anyone who is interested in the industry or who has a referral for a sales position should get in touch with him.

Margaret Diamond teaches biology at Cardinal O'Hara High School in Tonawanda.

Ryan Forrestel competed in the Buffalo Marathon and in a recent Ironman triathlon.

Jill Franz is a physical therapist at Sports PT of New York. She swam for Oswego, where she was team captain for two years.

Jim Hogan is a civil engineer at Parsons Transportation Group. He graduated from Oswego State College in 1995, where he swam for two years, and from UB's School of Engineering in 1998.

Chris Holland is premium sales coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. He is a 1997 graduate of Niagara University, where he swam for four years.

Karl Koslowski is an assistant athletic trainer for the University at Buffalo. He is training for his first Ironman triathlon (Lake Placid 2002).

Debbie Lennox is fitness and aquatic coordinator at Canterbury Woods.

Paul Maher teaches French and is chair of the language department at West Seneca East Senior High School.

Melissa Maldovan is a teacher's aide at the Stanley Makowski Early Childhood Center in Buffalo.

Rick Marable is a special education teacher at LaSalle Middle School in Niagara Falls.

Joe Myers completed the Buffalo Marathon and also took part in the Ironman Canada-British Columbia, finishing in 11 hours 44 minutes (swim 1:04:59, bike 6:03:56, run 4:23:18).

Daniel Rogersis a CPA and works as a financial consultant with Morgan Stanley. He attended Amherst High School and Canisius College.

Dave Shapiro, MD, is an anesthesiologist at ECMC and Assistant Professor at UB. His wife Mary is pregnant and due in May. The family lives in Lancaster with two dogs and one cat, but has been househunting in Amherst for 6 months. Dave is a member of the Buffalo Triathlon Club, but says he is "sticking to half-ironman distance only for now."

Jil St. Ledger-Roty has just acquired a rustic rural home.

Bill Weber just celebrated a birthday. What with the close of the creative lawn-sculpting season, Bill spends his free time volunteering for Meals on Wheels.

Paul White serves with the U.S. Army Reserve, and is pursuing a master's degree in secondary education (biology/physical education) at Niagara University.

Paul Wisniewski is employed as a welfare examiner for the Erie County Department of Social Services. He is also a board member of The Catholic Seminary Alumni Association and The Peace and Justice Commission for the Diocese of Buffalo.

Juli Wylegala is Associate Professor of Physical Therapy and Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education at Daemen College, and is pursuing a doctoral degree in Exercise Science at UB.
