Last Year’s Spring Colloquium

  • Chance for students to present papers/work to other students
  • Can get money from GSA, last year, rec. 500$ from GSA
  • Campus catering, alcohol inc.
  • Last year: Clemens 120, PowerPoint, FSA catered
  • The three programs
  • attend approx. 50
  • presented approx. 8
  • Barnes and Noble GC to the presenters (20$ each)
  • Advertising: word of mouth, invite professors, listservs, flyers, emails
  • suggestion: minimum criteria, have faculty go through the abstract to evaluate (review process, presenter submitted about 100 words on their presentation)
  • half way through, break for food
  • liquor license – Jenny will send Tom the contact information
  • time: 1pm-4pm on a Friday
  • spent too much on food, no more than 500$

What needs to be done:

  • find out about rooms with equipment
  • check with school secretaries on date and time to make sure nothing conflicts
  • determine time and date
  • write up proposal for GSA
  • talk to Pat about food (where can we get it from)
  • email/talk to Johnny about equipment
  • advertise!!!
  • get a rough estimate of numbers
  • application form for presenters (website – provided abstract, for both attendees, presenters, and volunteers)
  • name tags
  • program with bios of presenters

Buttons:

  • approved
  • IGSA will pay 100$ for 500 buttons from local vendor
  • members will sell the buttons for 1$ each and donate the money to Tsunami relief
