    GMP III Instructor, Gifted Math Program

    Mr. Joseph Montante has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from SUNY College at Buffalo and a master’s in mathematics education from SUNY at Buffalo.  He has been an instructor in GMP III since January 1995.  Mr. Montante is a Fulbright Award recipient (1996) and as a result of winning that award, taught mathematics in Namibia (Southern Africa) for one term.  In December of 1998, he was featured in WNY Family Magazine as “Teacher of the Month”.   During the summer of 2003, he was sent to Japan to learn about their educational system – a result of winning a Fulbright Memorial Fund Award.  In 2006, Mr. Montante was presented the Edyth May Sliffe Award for excellence in teaching.  His full-time job is with Buffalo Public Schools.  He has been with the Frederick Law Olmsted School, one of Buffalo’s highest performing schools, since 1990.
