National Science Foundation funds for research and education in most fields of science and engineering, including special programs at all levels K-12 through postgraduate, and some cooperative business programs.  Search by keyword or use the advanced search page to limit by date, type, organization and use full text.  A-Z index as well as broad subject area browsing. Instructions on preparing proposals with links to the general Grants.gov pdf format application form.   Recent funding opportunities (with links to program guidelines and all due dates) as well as upcoming due dates.  Keep abreast of new opportunities in your area via email or RSS feed.  Has a unique “Fastlane” area where researchers can submit nominations, letters of reference, prepare and submit proposals, check the status of proposals and awards, make travel arrangements, manage accounts, request electronic funds, and much more (requires registration).

UNIFEM (United Nations Development Fund for Women)

Provides financial and technical assistance to innovative programs and strategies that foster women's empowerment.  Works in six thematic areas:  Women, Poverty & Economics, Violence Against Women, HIV & AIDS, Democratic Governance, Peace & Security, and Human Rights.  Links to six web portals, each with its own mission and activities.  Global partnerships with commitments and organizations, and Goodwill Ambassadors – personalities who lend their fame to give voice and support to the cause.           

Offers grants for activities to eliminate violence against women through the Trust Fund in Support of Actions to Eliminate Violence Against Women as well as some funding through individual regional offices and the Fund for Gender Equality.  Also offers internships designed to complement women's development-oriented studies with practical experience in various aspects of multilateral technical cooperation, but also complements other international studies, including law.  FAQ, history, access to free publications including an annual flagship report.  Major sections include Gender Issues, Worldwide, News & Events, Materials, Partnerships, and Links.

Founded in 1881, AAUW’s mission is to advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.  Main page includes News and Events (with RSS feed), Notices and links to their Blog, as well as sections on Advocacy, Education, Research, and About (with history of the organization), as well as a members only area.  
The mission is advanced through: Public Policy Advocacy on critical social issues including civil rights, education, economic security and Title IX;  Community Programs including action grants to individuals (online application); Voter Education Campaigns and lobbying through the Action Fund;  Legal Advocacy Fund combating sex discrimination in higher education; Leadership programs providing opportunities for women and girls to acquire the skills they need to succeed and assume leadership roles;  Events including conventions and conferences; and International Connections including fellowships (online application) and affiliations with groups including the United Nations and the U.S. Global Leadership Campaign. 

American Council on Eucation (ACE) Office of Women in Higher Education (OWHE)

Provides national leadership in the advancement of women into executive positions and campus presidencies through their mission to identify, develop, encourage and support women leaders and link them to other women and mentors.  Web site includes links to their program initiatives which include leadership forums and summits, including Women of Color, as well as news and events.  ACE/OWHE also confers leadership awards and links to job seeker services and non-ACE programs that provide retention support.   

Assocation of American Colleges and Universities, Resources for Women in Higher Education (AAC&U)

The Association of American Colleges and Universities provides national leadership on issues relevant to women in higher education through the Program on the Status and Education of Women (PSEW) - supports women faculty, administrators, and students in higher education through projects and publications on such priorities as curriculum and campus climate, women's leadership, and new research on women and gender.   Initiatives include:  Campus Women Lead (CWL) - an alliance promoting a multicultural women-led agenda for the sustained transformation of higher education for the twenty-first century and a moderated listserv, Aacucampuswomenlead.  Links to publications including an online newsletter, On Campus with Women and Women of Color in the Academy Series, as well as upcoming meetings and institutes.  Also links an AAC&U project, DiversityWeb – “devoted to connecting, amplifying and advancing campus diversity work throughout postsecondary education”.

One of the premier resources for academe covering all aspects of university and college issues.  Search features yields gender related articles in various sections (use “diversity” or “gender” for example), even though there is no specific gender or diversity section. Division for the Advancement of Women, United Nations (DAW)

In collaboration with other entities in the UN gender equity architecture ( UN-INSTRAW, for example), actively works to advance the global agenda on women's rights, gender equality and the empowerment of women, and ensure that women’s voices are heard in international policy arenas.

Higher Education Resource Services (HERS)

An educational non-profit organization providing leadership and management development for women in higher education administration.   HERS conducts regular institutes (online application and assignments) and activities such as study tours.  They also partner with groups such as the Association of Black Women in Higher Education (ABWHE).  Also conducts a sister program, HERS-SA (HERS in South Africa), through national conferences and academies.  Special alumnae only section.  HERS board and staff are clearly listed on the web site, along with HERS faculty at Bryn Mawr (summer institute facility), Wellesley College, and the University of Denver. 

National Center for Curriculum Transformation Resources on Women (NCCTRW)

Located at Towson University in Maryland, seeks to foster curricular change and the dissemination of scholarship focused on women and other forms of diversity.   Produces directories, manuals, and essays and  maintains comprehensive information on resources available throughout the U.S. useful in curriculum transformation. NCCTRW is the curricular arm of a two-part effort that includes the Institute for Teaching and Research on Women (ITROW) as the research arm.  Assists in integrating scholarship on women and other forms of diversity into educational curricula through workshops, seminars, and conferences for Towson and regional faculty; Summer Institutes dedicated to internationalizing courses and educational curricula; Web-based curriculum transformation workshops.  Also provides a list of curriculum consultants who assist in curriculum transformation and consulting scholars’ essays (available through their publications), which identify and explain the process. 

National Women's Studies Association (NWSA)

Established in 1977, a professional organization dedicated to leading the field of women's studies and gender studies, as well as its teaching, learning, research, and service wherever they be found.  Serves members through publications, convening, professional development activities, and supporting scholarship that transforms knowledge of women and puts that knowledge into practice.  Members only section (student memberships offered).   Membership divided into twelve regional areas with some individual web sites.

Offers advertising packages for their member and subscribers market.  Annual conference. “About the Field” section includes facts and figures, description of women vs. gender studies, a page of research links, MS. Magazine Guide to Women & Gender Studies (searchable by name, state, degree), as well as a database of Women’s Centers by institution or state.  Offers two book prizes.  Access to NWSA pdf resource publications as well as books and videos published by NWSA members.  Separate student resource pages.  Communities includes a Women of Color Caucus. 
Program on the Status and Education of Women (PSEW)

Part of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, provides support to women faculty, administrators, and students in higher education through programs and publications.  Current priorities include improving curricula and campus climates, promoting women's leadership, and disseminating new research on women and gender. Many PSEW networks, publications, and resources are available to anyone interested in the status of women in higher education, regardless of AAC&U membership status. 

Networks include Campus Women Lead, a grassroots network dedicated to improving campus climates and the status of women in higher education, and a moderated listserv.

Publications include On Campus with Women, a free online newsletter, and papers on Women of Color in the Academy.  Resources include Women's Leadership Project for Inclusive Excellence workshops, and Women and Scientific Literacy: Building Two-Way Streets, a curriculum and faculty development project supported by the National Science Foundation.

Consortium on Race, Gender and Ethnicity (CRGE  housed at the U. of Maryland)

Three major areas of work:  research at the intersections of race, gender and ethnicity; rigorous mentorship and training programs and activities for developing scholars; and collaboration aimed at creating a campus climate conducive to excellent intersectional scholarship.
