Our members represent women leaders from the arts, business, education, government, law, medicine, science, and technology.
The American Association of University Women advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. AAUW encourages diversity and has adopted the following:

2. AAUW, founded in 1881, is open to all graduates who hold an associate's or equivalent or higher degree from an accredited college or university. Those who do not hold such a degree can affiliate as Friends of the Buffalo Branch, and undergradutes may become Student Affiliates..
3. AAUW is the oldest and largest national organization working for all women and girls, with more than 100,000 members.
4. The AAUW Educational Foundation provides funds to advance education, research, and self-development for women.
5. AAUW's Legal Advocacy Fund provides funding and a support system for women seeking judicial redress for gender discrimination
