CREDIT PROGRAMS
What is an MFC certificate program?
An MFC certificate program consists of a group of courses that focus upon an area of specialized knowledge or information. MFC certificate programs are developed, taught and evaluated by UB faculty or by qualified professionals with expertise and work experience in specific subject areas.
Certificates of completion
Several short programs leading to a Certificate of Completion are available through Millard Fillmore College. Courses in these programs are offered for university credit and may be used as free electives by students pursuing undergraduate degrees in other disciplines, or they may be taken independently by persons seeking knowledge in a specific field.
Certificates of Completion are presently offered in the following areas (click on title for more information):
Certificate courses online
Many MFC certificate courses may be taken as Internet-based courses. Internet-based courses are identified in the UB class schedule, which is found on the Student Response Center website. Students should also consult MFC Distance Learning web page for more information.
Requirements
See the individual certificate program descriptions for required and elective courses.
Certificates of completion (with prior approval of MFC) will be awarded to students who achieve a "C" or better average in certificate program courses.
Course Substitutions/Waivers
Due to the brevity of these programs, no more than one course may be substituted or accepted in transfer toward a certificate program. To waive a certificate requirement, a Waiver Request form should be submitted for approval by Millard Fillmore College advisors. A complete course description and unofficial transcript should be attached for any course completed at other institutions.
Obtaining Your Certificate
Certificates of Completion are awarded only upon written request to Millard Fillmore College during the semester in which the final course requirements are being completed. At that time, applicants must complete and submit the Certificate of Completion Request Form. MFC staff will mail certificates to applicants 3-4 weeks following the last day of the semester in which the application takes place.
