The Council on International Studies and Programs (CISP) is a distinctive feature
of the University at Buffalo's governance of international education. A consultative
body, it is composed of ex-officio members from the Office of the Vice Provost for
International Education and faculty from a range of disciplines involved in international
activities at the university. Serving as the primary advisory body to the Provost on
international education, CISP reviews, supervises and develops plans for university-wide
international initiatives. The Council advises the Provost on the value to the University
of proposed university-wide exchange programs, encourages the development of
interdisciplinary studies and programs, plans and implements conferences and colloquia on
international education, publicizes the availability of research and teaching grants for
international education, and encourages the preparation of proposals for external funding
to support international studies.
