Cost/Scholarships
As a state (that is, public) university, the University at Buffalo is able to offer very affordable tuition to all its students. International students pay the same tuition as other out-of-state students; there is not an additional international tuition charge. In addition, it is important to realize that the tuition is already subsidized by the state of New York.
The real cost of the tuition at UB is between $15,000 and $25,000 depending on the type of program. But we are very fortunate in New York that the state government subsidizes the true cost of education for all students (including international students).
The cost of tuition at the University at Buffalo has not increased for the past four years. There has been a lot of pressure to increase our already low tuition; we have had to fight hard to maintain our tuition at its already affordable price. Most U.S. colleges and universities increase their tuition by at least 3% - 4% every year.
UB is proud to continue offer its low tuition rate for another academic year! UB stands in the front rank among the nation's research-intensive public universities; nevertheless, UB remains one of the most affordable public universities in the United States!
Since UB's tuition is already subsidized and quite low compared to other comparable universities in the U.S., we are able to offer only limited financial assistance to international students. This limited assistance comes in three forms: scholarships, assistantships, and on-campus work.
