Streaming Media Services
The UB Streaming Media Service is for official University business, specifically to support UB's research initiative, departmental or school work, UB instructional activities, and officially sponsored student clubs, organizations, and events.
Our streaming media service is capable of streaming files in several different formats:
- Windows Media format (.wmv/.wma)
- Real Media format (.rm)
- Quicktime movie (.mov)
- MPEG-4 (.mp4)
- MPEG-3 (.mp3)
- Flash 4 in SMIL presentation (.smi)
In addition, the service can broadcast a live event in either Windows or Real formats.
The forms below allow UB Web Developers to request streaming media services for their web sites. A valid UBIT name and password is required to access these pages.
- Request disk space for hosting and streaming videos
- Request Windows account to broadcast a live event in Windows format
- Request Real account to broadcast a live event in Real format
- All other requests and questions in regards to streaming that cannot be handled with the other forms
Additional User / Client Support
- Teaching & Learning Center (TLC)
The TLC provides additional personalized training and instruction on streaming video. They also provide a file conversion service that will convert a video into one of the supported formats for a nominal fee. - Instructional Technology Support Services (ITSS)
ITSS can assist with UBLearns course related video streaming, and operates the UB Video On Demand (UBvod) service.
