The 1997 SEFA Campaign |
Hi, I'm Barry Eckert, dean of the School of Health Related Professions. I am also the chair of the SEFA campaign for UB this year. The 1997 campaign will focus on the ways that all of us at UB are Partners in Caring for our community. There are several ways that UB forms partnerships. Within the university, faculty and staff work together all the time in teaching, research, and service. We form partnerships with colleagues in other departments and faculties, and at other institutions of higher education; we also collaborate with governmental, corporate, and private agencies to help fulfill our educational mission.UB is also a partner in caring with Western New York. Several departments and programs are directly involved with health and human services agencies that help large numbers of people who live in our community. Many of us volunteer our time for the charities we are particularly committed to. Each year, hundreds of UB faculty and staff show a tremendous outpouring of support for the United Way Day of Caring. We also partner every day of the year by lending our financial support through the State Employees Federated Appeal.
The annual SEFA campaign provides each individual on campus an opportunity to be a partner with Western New York. Your financial contributions to SEFA have the potential to help many, many people throughout our community. These partnerships in caring are very important to our friends and neighbors-and they can be very important to our own families.
As 1997 UB SEFA chair, I look forward to joining with everyone on campus to carry forward UB's strong tradition of caring for our community.
