Innovative application of Personal Digital Assistant (PDAs) in improving patient care
Jeffrey A. White, a former graduate student of the IUCB Buffalo and Miami sites is making local and national news for his work with Palm Pilots at the Miami Children's Hospital, in Miami, FL.
In a first-of-its-kind use of technology, the Pediatric International Heart Center at Miami Children's Hospital is now using PDAs to access, update, and disseminate patient information. Using software developed by Jeffrey A. White, currently a biomedical engineer on staff at Miami Children's Hospital, nurse practitioners and physicians may now use PDAs to streamline data entry and update the hospital's database of cardiac surgery patients.
Channel 10 (Miami, FL) extensively promoted this story. Mr. White
was also featured nationally on National Public Radio (NPR) and locally
on WIOD 610 AM News Radio.
