Advances in Bioceramics: Report to the Whitaker Foundation on the "Hulbert Conference".

Dr. Sam Hulbert, Founder of the Society For Biomaterials, was honored in Buffalo this past Summer by an international cadre of scientists and students, as he retired from his 27-year Presidential leadership of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Many of the futuristic predictions made by Sam Hulbert, in a technical paper he presented in 1969, are now encompassed in the breakthrough technologies reported by the Conferees at this workshop.

As an example of current work, check out the Abstracts here on:
"Fine Particle Persistence in Ballast Water Sediments and Ballast Tank Biofilms"
"BioParticle-to-Surface Adhesion Strengths Estimated by Optical Tweezer Technique"
"Inorganic Particulate Detachment into Medical Air Outlets of Hospitals and Dental Clinics"

Full technical papers on these topics will be presented to the Particle Division of The Adhesion Society, at its February, 2005 annual meeting, this
year in Mobile, Alabama.
