Those readers who are new to the field and require a general framework will benefit most from the text within the book itself. Largely written by local authorities, it represents the experience of those who have provided inservice educational activities to a wide range of people coming from diverse backgrounds.
More experienced readers will find the Bibliography and other references most useful. Because of the format of the book (loose-leaf and internet online version), it has maximum flexibility to include new references and citations on an ongoing basis. An example of this is the late inclusion of a citation for Robert Truog’s excellent review of Brain Death in the Hastings Center Report. State of the art articles will therefore be included in the Bibliography soon after they are identified. For this reason, the Editor requests that anyone using this book feel free to contact him with suggestions for resources to add to the Bibliography. Such suggestions should be directed to:
