           The Faculty Senate Executive Committee met at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, April 29th, 2009, in the Jeannette Martin Room of Capen Hall (567) to discuss the following:

  1. Approval of the minutes of April 1, 2009
  2. Report of the Chair
  3. Report of the President/Provost
  4. Debut of Faculty Senate new website –Robin Sullivan, Instructional Designer, Teaching and Learning Center and Mili Pradhan, Teaching and Learning Center
  5. Approval of calendar for 2009/2010
  6. Old/New business
  7. Executive Session (if needed)
  8. Adjournment

Item 1. Approval of the minutes of April 1, 2009

The minutes of April 1st, 2009 were unanimously approved.

Item 2. Report of the Chair

The chair announced that the Financial Management Advisory group was resuscitated.

Item 3. Report of the President/Provost

Item 4. Debut of Faculty Senate new website –
Robin Sullivan, Instructional Designer, Teaching and Learning Center and
Mili Pradhan, Teaching and Learning Center

Robin announced that the Faculty Senate new website was up and solicited suggestions for changes and improvements. Anna Maria Kedzierski was given credit and thanked for spearheading the effort and for her invaluable contributions to the website.

Robin Sullivan walked the senators through the website http://facultysenate.buffalo.edu
where links to minutes, bylaws, charter, the faculty/staff handbook, resources, etc. are available. Rosters for the senators are now available online as well as a list of the meeting schedules for the upcoming year, Sullivan said. The site will be updated regularly to indicate cancelled meetings and changes, she added. The search engine now allows senators to locate information in Senate-related documents on the FS website specifically. The major resolutions of the Senate are all listed as well.

The UB Faculty Senate discussion forum was highlighted as an arena to facilitate discussions among faculty at UB. A senator requested that a link to The State Senate be added to the website. Robin Sullivan said she would do that and concluded by welcoming suggestions from senators.

Item 5. Approval of calendar for 2009/2010
The calendar was approved.

Item 6. Old/New business
The chair went over the agenda for the last Faculty Senate meeting:

  • the various FS committees will report on their activities
  • Report on the 152nd Spring Plenary of the University Faculty Senate April 30, May 1-2, 2009 which will be hosted by the University at Buffalo.
  • Report on the swine flu and what UB is doing about the repercussions of a potential an epidemic.

Item 7. Executive Session

            The FSEC went into executive session at 3:09pm.

Item 8. Adjournment

            The meeting was adjourned at 3:37pm.
