The EOP Tutorial Component is intended to maximize the student’s academic potential. The tutorial office, located in 208B Norton Hall, is a place where all EOP students can feel free to receive individual and group tutoring for all disciplines. Tutors are upper-class undergraduate and graduate students with expertise in the subjects they are tutoring.

To receive tutorial service, EOP students need to fill out a “Tutorial Request Form” available in 208B Norton Hall. Upon completion of the forms, a tutor will be assigned to suit the specific needs of the student. The student will receive the tutor’s contact information and will be able to contact their tutors directly. It is recommended that students request tutors at the beginning of each semester.

At a university as large as the University at Buffalo, it is imperative to take advantage of these services in order to be academically successful.

College life can sometimes be hectic and confusing, especially for a new student. A peer mentor can help give you directions for a successful college career.

The Peer Mentoring Program is designed to allow upper-class students to assist freshmen students in making the transition to college life. EOP mentors are upper-class students with proven success in the college environment. Mentors help with academic, social and emotional support. This support can help freshmen gain new experiences, learn new skills, clarify personal goals and develop competence in managing his/her life.

Mentors are trained, committed and caring individuals who are willing to take the time to assist their mentees.
Mentees are active participants in this relationship acknowledging their mentors and seeking assistance in skill areas.

Many mentor/Mentee relationships have the potential to become long lasting friendships.
