Return to the English Department
![]() |
Here’s what I’ll be thinking about and doing for the next few years: teaching the required undergraduate English 301- Criticism course, teaching courses on film, documentary, and the interactions of visual and verbal expression. I will be doing some work for the College Board on issues of higher level literacy. In addition, I’ll be focusing again on the question: "Why do I like this picture?" View other snapshots, meaningful to me, probably banal to everyone else. But I’d be delighted to discuss the matter. Send me an e-mail: engstef@acsu.buffalo.edu.
In the snapshot on the left, the kid next to me is named Yussel (his grandma called him Yussele.) |

I'll be glad to explain the symbolic significance of the Plains, Georgia watertower. |
