A's RUS  company with large engineering computing needs/wishes to purchase a new supercomputer. They have narrowed the choice down to an SGI Origin 2000 with 32 processors and a SUN Ultraenterprise 10000 with the same number of processors. You have been hired as a technical consultant to advise the company. Please prepare a detailed (5-10 pages) technical report on the suitability of either machine. You may use the discussion in Chapter 6 of the text by Schoenauer as an outline of the different things to look at for your report. Discussion must include the merit of the base chip (MIPS R10000, Sun UltraIIi) for engineering computations (base architecture, cache effects for arithmetic, theoretical and expected performance etc.) and the communication hardware.
