Microsoft Office 2007 Download for Windows XP

Introduction
Microsoft Office 2007 is licensed to all students paying the technology fee, faculty, and staff at the University at Buffalo. Faculty and staff are licensed to install Microsoft Office 2007 software on university and personally owned computers for academic or work-related purposes. Faculty and Staff must be employed by the state, UB Foundation, Research Foundation, Faculty Student Association, the Practice Plans, or have Geographic Full Time Faculty status. The suite is a software package containing popular Office development software: Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Groove, InfoPath, OneNote, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
Downloading Microsoft Office 2007
- To download Microsoft Office 2007, go to the UBIT Software Download site.
- Under the Browse All Software section, click Windows
- Click the Office 2007 download icon.
Important Licensing Notes

Note
You must only download Office 2007 using a broadband connection, such as cable, DSL, FiOS, or ResNet, or else download it in a public site and save to CD. Do not download it over dialup.
Installing Microsoft Office 2007
Note
If you currently have Microsoft Office 2003 installed, you should install Microsoft Office 2007 over the previous version as described below.
Note
Only one version of Microsoft Outlook can be installed on a computer at a time. If installing Office in parallel, Outlook 2007 will overwrite Outlook 2003. Do not remove Outlook 2003 before installing Outlook 2007 in order to retain your Outlook settings.
- Please wait while the setup program prepares to extract the necessary files.
- When the Welcome window appears, click Run.
- Please wait while the installer extracts and prepares to run.
- Select Run The MS Office Enterprise 2007 Installer and click Finish .
- Please wait while Setup prepares the necessary files.
- Read the Microsoft Software License Terms, then click I accept the terms of this agreement.
- Click Install Now or Upgrade to install Microsoft Office 2007.

If you are upgrading from a previous version, under the Upgrade tab select Remove all previous versions. Click Install Now.
- Please wait while the installation files are processed.
- Click Close when the installation is complete.
Configuring Microsoft Office 2007
The first time you open any Microsoft Office 2007 application, it will prompt you to configure the system. You will only have to do this once.
- In the Privacy Options window, select Search Microsoft Office Online for Help content when I'm connected to the Internet. Then click Next.
- In the Sign up for Microsoft Update window, select Download and install updates from Microsoft Update when available. Click Finish.
- On your computer, open Microsoft Word 2007, if you have not already done so, by selecting it from the All Programs list. Click the Microsoft Office 2007 button located in the top left corner of the program window.
- Click Word Options in the bottom right of the menu window.
- In the Word Options window, select Save from the left side menu.
- In the Save files in this format drop down menu, select Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc), then click OK.
Note
You will have to repeat steps 3-6 under Configuring Microsoft Office 2007 for Excel and Powerpoint as well.
