Firefox is an open-source web browser whose advanced security features and intuitive design have led to its growing popularity. Firefox is a free alternative to other web browsers such as Microsoft's Internet Explorer, and is available for download by anyone, anywhere. The fact that it is open-source allows for an infinite number of copies of the software to be legally installed on any number of machines. Firefox boasts integrated security features such as automatically disallowing pop-ups and spyware, and built-in phishing protection to spot suspected Web forgeries. Firefox features a customizable interface, tabbed browsing windows to reduce clutter, an interactive Find feature, and a wide variety of plug-ins to do everything from enable audio screen reading to interpreting commands based on the movements of your mouse.
Obtaining Firefox
If you are upgrading from a previous version of Firefox, the previous installation must be completely uninstalled before beginning the setup process.
- Firefox can be downloaded at http://www.getfirefox.com.
- Click Download Firefox - Free.
- When the File Download window appears, click Save File.
- The file will download to your desktop. When it finishes, click Open to start the installer.

Installing Firefox
- Once the setup program has extracted, the Welcome window will appear. Click Next to begin the Firefox installation process.
- Read the license agreement, then select I Accept the terms in the License Agreement. Click Next to proceed.
- Select whether you want a Standard or Custom installation, then click Next. The Standard installation is highly recommended.
- Please wait while Firefox installs.

- Firefox installation is complete. Check the Launch Mozilla Firefox now box and click Finish to exit the Firefox installer.
- The browser will launch. You are now ready to begin using Firefox.
