Mac OS X Software Update

Introduction
Note
If you use Blackboard or the ARTstor digital archive collection, make sure Java is up to date.
Software Update keeps your computer up to date with the latest security patches, version updates, and additions. It also updates some Apple and third-party applications.
Using Software Update
- Click on the Apple menu, then select System
Preferences.

- Under the System category, select Software Update.

- Make sure the Check for updates box
is selected, and specify the frequency in the pull-down menu. Select the
Download important updates in the background
box.

- Click Check Now to run Software Update.
Note
You must connect to the Internet before running Software Update.
- Software Update will show a list of updates available
for your machine. Select which updates you would like to install, then click Install.

- Enter your computer's Administrator username and password in the Name and Password fields respectively, then click OK.

- The License Agreement may appear. Read it, then click Agree
to continue.

- The selected updates will download and install onto your computer.

- When Software Update is finished you must restart
your computer. Save and close all applications and files, then click Restart.
