Introduction

Using Mac OS X's Finder, you can connect to the UBUnix FTP server, which will then appear in Finder as if it was a drive on your computer. You can then upload and download files to the UBUnix FTP server using Finder. This process will only connect via FTP, not Secure FTP (SFTP).

Connecting to the UBUNIX FTP Server

  1. From the Finder, click Go, then select Connect to Server.

  2. In the Server Address field, enter ftp://UBITName@ubunix.buffalo.edu, replacing UBITName with your UBITName, then click Connect.

  3. Enter your UBITName and Password in the Name and Password fields, respectively, then click OK.

  4. Your UBUnix file space will appear as a drive on the left sidebar of Finder. You can drag and drop files onto the drive to upload files, or click on the drive and drag and drop files to folders on your computer to download files. When you are done using the UBUnix FTP server, click the eject button next to the drive entry.
