Introduction
iprint@ub is the print management system at the University at Buffalo. Your UB Quota purse is created the first time you use the service. Once your purse is created you are eligible to receive allocations. After using the service for the first time, all UB affiliates are then provided a purse of 650 single-sided pages, or approximately 400 double-sided pages, per fall and spring semester, which is displayed in its monetary equivalent of $32.50. During the summer semester, a purse of 200 single-sided pages or 120 double-sided pages is provided, which is displayed in its monetary equivalent of $10.00. Per academic year up to 1500 single-sided pages or 920 double-sided pages are available, with the allotted yearly purse of $75.00. Allocations from semesters prior to creating your quota purse are not available to you, even if you were enrolled in courses for that semester. There is no charge for printing the identifying cover sheet. Any unused amount left in your purse at the end of the semester will rollover to the next semester during the academic year, and purses will be reset during the first week of August.
Once your purse shows no money remaining, printing additional pages costs $.05 per single-sided page, or $.08 per double-sided page when paid using a Print/Copy Card that can be purchased at any UB library or computing site. Payment can also be made by choosing the purse for Campus Cash.
Important Security Information
Your UBITName and Password are for your use only, and should not be shared with anyone else. If you want to allow another person to use your iprint@ub purses to pay for their print jobs, you must personally log into a Public Site Computer, Print Release Station, or Print Release Pay Station, then submit and confirm the print job yourself. Sharing your UBIT Password with someone else is a violation of the UB Computer and Network Usage Policy.
Submitting and Confirming a Print Job
- Using your program's Print window, select any preferences you want to apply to your print job, then click Print.

- After a short pause, the GoPrint Security Agent window will appear. Enter your UBITName and Password into the UBIT User Name and Password fields, respectively, then click Sign In.

- After signing in, you will see your pending print jobs, as well as the available balance in your default purse. You should not click the X next to the print jobs you want to print, as doing so will delete the jobs, not select them. You do not need to select your desired print jobs. If you do not want to print certain jobs, delete them by clicking the X next to the print job. You can also select jobs to print by releasing them at a Print Release Station or a Print Release Pay Station.
- Ensure that you want to print all the print jobs displayed, and that you have enough in your purse to print all your jobs, then follow the appropriate instructions below for the purse from which you wish to pay (UB Quota, Campus Cash, or Print/Copy Card). Once you have chosen to pay for your print jobs, you cannot cancel them.
UB Quota Purse
Click Pay with purse "UB Quota".
Campus Cash Purse
Click Next Purse at the top of the window until the Campus Cash purse is selected.
Click Pay with "purse Campus Cash".
Print/Copy Card
You cannot pay for your jobs using a Print/Copy Card from the GoPrint Security Agent window. You must release your print jobs from a Print Release Pay Station. - A confirmation window will appear, showing your print jobs and the printer to which they were released, and your purse will be charged for your print jobs. You can then pick up your print jobs from the Print Service Counter.

Note
There is no pop-up client for printing to network printers (located in Bell Hall, Abbott Hall, and Capen UGL) from non-Windows clients such as Linux or UBUnix. You must release your network print job or check your UB Quota Purse at a Print Release Station or Print Release Pay Station.
Releasing Print Jobs from a Print Release Station or Print Release Pay Station
- Using your desired program's Print window, select any preferences you want to apply to your print job, then click Print.

- After a short pause, the GoPrint Security Agent window will appear, showing all your pending print jobs, including Pages and Cost information. Click I will release my documents at a release station.

-
Go to a Print Release Station or a Print Release Pay Station, enter your UBITName and Password into the UBIT User Name and Password fields, respectively, then click Sign In.

- After a short pause, a list displaying all your pending print jobs will appear, including Cost and Pages information, as well as the available balance in your default purse (usually your UB Quota Purse) at the top of the window. Click all print jobs you want to print, making sure that a check mark appears next to each desired print job.

- Follow the appropriate instructions below for the purse from which you wish to pay (UB Quota, Campus Cash, or Print/Copy Card). If you do not have enough funds in the purse you select, you can make a partial payment using that purse, then choose another purse for the remaining cost.
If, after making a partial payment, you find that you do not have enough funds in any purse to pay the remaining balance, a Print Service Consultant can refund the partial payment to a UB Quota Purse or Print/Copy Card only (Campus Cash payments will be refunded to your UB Quota Purse or Print/Copy Card).

Once you confirm your selections, you cannot cancel any of your chosen print jobs.

Deleting Print Jobs
Deleting a Job from Your Computer
- When the GoPrint Security Agent window appears at your workstation after printing from your desired program, click the X next to the print job you want to delete.
- A confirmation window will appear, showing that your print job was cancelled.

Deleting a Job from a Print Release Station
- After signing in to a Print Release Station, click any print jobs you want to delete, making sure a check mark appears next to each job, then click Delete.

- Carefully verify that you want to delete all selected print jobs, then click Click Here to Confirm and Start Deleting.

- Your print jobs will automatically be deleted.
Changing the Title of a Print Job
If you do not like the file name used for your print job by iprint@ub, you can change the name within iprint@ub to make it easier for you to identify.
- When the GoPrint Security Agent appears after printing from your desired program, enter your desired name in the Title text field corresponding to your print job, then click the icon shaped like a disk next to the text field.

- A confirmation window will appear, displaying Title Updated directly above your pending print jobs listing, and your print job will be identified by the title you entered.

Note
The name of your original file will not be changed.
Reprinting Poor-Quality Printouts
If your print job is incorrectly processed due to a printer malfunction (e.g., low toner, wrinkled paper, etc.), speak with a Public Site Consultant, who can reprint your print job at no additional cost. This free reprint is not available if the problem is caused by anything other than a printer malfunction (e.g., a poor-quality original source), and must be requested within 24 hours from the time you submitted the print job.
Print Job Too Large Error
Print jobs can be no larger than 25MB. If your print job exceeds this limit, you will see a Messenger Service window after attempting to print from your program, indicating that your print job has been deleted. Although the Messenger Service window does not indicate that your print job was too large, this is the only time you will see this window. Reduce the size of your print job (e.g., by printing fewer pages at a time), then resubmit the print job.
