Adobe Reader 8 for Mac

Adobe Reader is used to view Portable Document Format (PDF) files. Many professors convert course readings into PDF files so that students can access them online. You will need Adobe Reader to view articles your professors place in PDF format on the University Libraries Course Reserve System.
Downloading Adobe Reader 8
- Make sure that you have established a connection to the Internet.
- If you have not already been directed to the Adobe Reader Download Site, please click on the following URL:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html - Select your version of Mac OS, then click Continue.
- Select Adobe Reader 8, then click Download Adobe Reader.

- Select Save to Disk and click OK.
- Press Command (Apple) j to view the Firefox Downloads window. Wait for the download to complete, then click Open next to the download entry for Adobe Reader to begin the installation process.
Installing Adobe Reader 8
- Please wait while installation files are unpackaged and the Adobe Reader 8 setup program is processed.
- The packaged installation file for Adobe Reader 8 will mount to temporary file space in the Finder. This file space should open automatically. Drag the file named DownloadReader.pkg from the mount to your Desktop. You may now click the eject symbol to the right of the mount space to free the temporary resources the installer was using.

- Double-click on the file named DownloadReader.pkg on your Desktop to begin the setup program.
- Please wait while the appropriate files are processed and unpackaged.
- The Adobe Reader Download Manager will open and ask you where you want to save the file. Select Macintosh HD and click Continue.

- Click Continue on the Installation Type screen.
- Please wait while the installer processes the necessary files.

- Read the License Agreement, then click Accept.

- Adobe Reader will start, and is now successfully installed on your computer.
