Sponsorship Opportunities

The support of businesses and foundations is a vital part of helping us to bring outstanding, high quality programming to our community while teaching people about visual and performing arts. Because only 31% of UB’s annual budget comes from New York State, the University is unable to supply programming or operating funds to the Center for the Arts. We subsist on earned revenue and philanthropy. Your participation is more than just dollars – it lets us inspire the minds of young and old while we encourage the actors, musicians, dancers, sculptors, filmmakers and artists of tomorrow. We have a number of opportunities available that will allow you to partner with the UB Center for the Arts in bringing the wonders of the arts to hundreds of thousands of people each year.

Your sponsorship investment offers you unique, special opportunities.
We connect our sponsors to our audiences through great marketing benefits such as:

- Logo as an inseparable part of series or event title (Title sponsorships)
- Prominent branding with your logo in extensive direct mail pieces and paid     newspaper advertising
- “Your name in lights!” Your logo cut into gobo spotlight above box office and in   atrium
- Logo on Center for the Arts’ website with links to your web page
- Logo in televised ads for on-campus cable system
- Season-long listing in Program Book
- Prime tickets for performance or event
- Facility use
- Sampling opportunities

Title  Sponsorship of Series Opportunities

Schooltime Adventure Series
This series of five educational programs delights thousands of local grammar school students each year. Past shows include popular fairy tales like Cinderella and Jack & The Beanstalk to more eclectic programming such as The Paper Bag Players and POKO Puppets. Directly marketed to area schools, these shows are a huge hit with children from pre-K through 6th grade.

Family Adventure Series
Wholesome, educational entertainment is provided for families with children in our region through four programs in our Family Adventure Series. Past companies include Artspower and Fanfare Theater and shows such as Magic School Bus and Wimzie’s House.

Dance Series
The volume of dance programming (modern, ballet, jazz, etc.) is unique to CFA. In addition to four to five performances, each year since 1997 we have had at least one dance company in residence for a 3-week period.

D.I.Y. Series
If your organization has a special interest in another type of series (comedy, jazz, speakers), call us and we’ll work with you to design a series named for your company or foundation that will bring the targeted programming you’re looking for in our community.

Performance Sponsorship
Looking to target your marketing to a young, hip, educated group? Have we got the perfect opportunity for you!

Off
Center
Now in its 4th season, the emphasis is on comedy or programs of special interest to primarily students.

Music
The amount of music programming has been steadily growing, focusing on groups with a high caliber of musicianship (Bela Fleck, Medeski Martin & Wood, Soulive, Charlie Hunter) and a growing audience of students and “boomer” fans. This is the place for those acts who cross over through different genres or who are too big for local clubs but wouldn’t fill a stadium! This fall, Gov’t Mule kicked off a spectacular music season.

D.I.Y. Performances
If your interest is in international performances, specific music or dance performers, call us and we’ll work with you to bring the targeted programming you’d like to see promoted with your business’ name.

Dance Residency & Outreach Sponsor
Extended residencies (of 3 weeks plus) by The Limon Dance Company, Doug Varone and Dancers, American Ballet Theater Studio Company, and The Paul Taylor Dance Company (in both 1997 and 1999) benefited a total of 8,000+ students at 25 public schools in Buffalo and Niagara Falls, as well as more than 1,000 majors in the University at Buffalo Department of Theatre & Dance.  Public school students received performances and dance workshops from each performing group, while UB Theater & Dance majors took master and repertory classes from the company.

In 2004 Martha Graham Ensemble will come to Buffalo for another 3-week residency.  This is a major commitment by the Center, both financially and in terms of personnel, but it is part of a focused, continuous effort to enhance the education of public students in this region and of our performing arts undergraduates.

The UB Theatre & Dance Department currently has 250 majors.  The Dance department accounts for more than 100 of these students, and annually graduates dancers who become members of professional companies immediately upon receiving their degree, joining modern and jazz dance groups and Broadway productions. The Department of Theatre & Dance has received a great deal of praise from the professional companies we have had in residence with regard to its level of instruction and the development of its undergraduates.  The Artistic Directors of American Ballet Theater Studio, The Limon Dance Company, and Paul Taylor II were all particularly impressed with our students
