> EPA Student Fellowships

The EPA's National Network for Environmental Management Studies (NNEMS), sponsored by the EPA's Office of Environmental Education and Public Affairs, is a comprehensive fellowship program that provides undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to participate in a fellowship project that is directly related to their field of study. The purpose of the NNEMS program is to:

• Provide students with practical research opportunities and experiences in an EPA office or laboratory;
• Increase public awareness of and involvement in environmental issues;
• Encourage qualified individuals to pursue environmental careers; and,
• Help defray the costs associated with the pursuit of academic programs related to the field of environmental protection, such as pollution control, science, engineering, technology, social science, and specialty areas.

Students who are awarded NNEMS fellowships are offered a unique opportunity to gain research and training experience directly linked to their undergraduate or graduate studies. NNEMS fellows conduct research projects to augment their academic studies, which EPA supports with financial assistance. The research projects are organized among these categories:

• Environmental Policy, Regulation, and Law;
• Environmental Management and Administration;
• Public Relations and Communications; and,
• Computer Programming and Development.
