  > UB Environmental Design Minor

The minor in environmental design (Env Dsn), a non-workshop based track offered by the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, provides students from diverse backgrounds a broad foundation in the principles of community planning and the form and function of the built environment. The Env Dsn minor requires a minimum of six courses, totaling a minimum of 18 credits, from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning. The program comprises two required lower-division courses and a minimum of four upper-division courses selected in consultation with a faculty advisor. In addition, the minor in environmental design is designed to enhance and provide additional knowledge for students planning to pursue an accredited professional Master of Urban Planning (MUP) graduate degree upon completion of their baccalaureate studies. The Env Dsn minor is typically completed within five to six academic semesters.

Students are admitted to the minor in environmental design by the Department of Urban and Regional Planning upon earning an overall minimum GPA of 2.0 and completing either PD 120 or PD 212 with a minimum grade of B- (GPA of 2.67 on a 4.0 scale) or higher. Students must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or better and must have an average of 2.5 or better in their environmental design minor courses for successful completion.

Upon admission to the minor in environmental design, students will be assigned faculty advisors based upon their interests. These faculty advisors will help students to develop specific plans of study for the Env Dsn minor. Students are required to discuss development of their minor through conferences with their faculty advisors at least once a semester.

For undergraduate information, or for an admission application to the minor in environmental design, contact UB SA&P Advisement at [ap-advising@buffalo.edu].
