About Us
The University at Buffalo's Anthropology GIS laboratory is a users group under the direction of Professor Ezra Zubrow. The group deals with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) as applied archaeological and anthropological problems. The lab was established in response to a growing recognition of the need for integrated research methods. The University at Buffalo is one of three NCGIA centers in the United States. Students from the anthropology and geography departments are involved in research regarding the distributions of disabilities and literacy, social systems applications, simulation models, computational models and settlement patterns. The laboratory is located on the second floor of the Millard Filmore Academic Center (MFAC) in the Ellicot Complex, Amherst campus. For more information, please contact the laboratory staff at (716) 645-2511 or the anthropology department at (716) 645-2414.
