Sunday Times 23 July 1995 Bennett's Beat MPs DIG UP RINDOS DIRT The University of WA's dispute with former senior archaeology lecturer David Rindos won't stay buried. BB has heard that some State MPs are considering an open inquiry into the American academic's situation. They believe he did not get justice. Doc Rindos got the flick after he blew the whistle on what he considered to be non-professional activities that led to the archeology department being scrapped. BB was tipped-off this week about behind the scenes moves to have the Doc appointed to a post at another WA campus. But the UWA which first seemed keen to help pave the way, apparently now has balked at the idea. The MPs suggested to the UWA that it pick up the tab for Rindos's salary at the other campus which had indicated it would take him on board. The MPs want the matter resolved out of the public spotlight but if that can't be done, they plan to load their cannons in Parliament, particularly as a Freedom of Information Commission Ruling was critical of how the UWA had treated Doc Rindos.
