
AGSA Minutes - March 26, 2008
- Attendance:
Mark Frankel, Tera Thompson, Ashley Hansen, Denice Szafran, Ray Whitlow, Patrick Fazioli, Ben Kamphaus, Amber Kling, Katie Neilson
- Qualifying Exams for Masters: Ashley Hansen brought information from the Faculty Committee about the possibility of not requiring Masters students to take Qualifying Exams. Don Pollock provided a written proposal which was handed out during the meeting. The three options regarding the exam were 1) continue to keep it mandatory, 2) make it optional for students eventually wanting to enter the PhD program or 3) get rid of the exam for Masters students. Those present at the meeting voted, with 5 votes to keep the exam the way it is, 4 votes to make it optional and 0 votes to not require the exam. Ashley will be presenting these results, as well as opinions given electronically, to the Faculty Committee for consideration.
- Vote to encumber $100.00 to buy printer toner- Unanimous
- Vote to encumber $25.00 to co-sponsor a visit from Allan Stoekl to the Comparative Literature Department- Unanimous
