AGSA Minutes - January 19, 2006

1. We need to do a new vote for systems administrator as there are many problems in the lab. The nominees are Rachel Frisk and Dave Witt. More on this will go out via the list serve.
2. Archeology job talks are happening. Please participate if you are interested
3. We want to update the last serve and are read a list of names. People who have graduated will be taken off
4. Milton Plesser Conference is coming up. This is a good opportunity to submit papers and present.
5. Updates: GSA had no new updates since there have been no new meetings since our last meeting. Faculty comm.. there is a welcome back reception at the same time as our first speaker series. Please attend one of the events. Spring Speaker Series. We have $2175 to work with most of which is not from AGSA. We have 9 people coming from out of town to whom we hope to give larger honorarims, between $150-$200. We passed the budget around for tentative approval. We would like to encumber most of the money at once, once we have the official budget. For our 2nd speaker next Friday, Bruce Latimer, we unanimously encumbered $125 honorarium, $45 for dinner and $68 for a room at the University Inn.
6. Prof. Development Funds. The application is not yet available, we need an update from the union rep.
7. TA and GA the fee reduction check will be coming up again. It is written as a reimbursement check.
8. Chronicles- We are still waiting for the printer. Matt is looking for a replacement. He is hoping to work with someone this upcoming semester as a coeditor. Look for emails on the list serve if you are interested.
9. First year Qualifying exam preparation. We are looking for 2nd and 3rd year students to help facilitate a workshop for the first years. If you are interested contact Lori in the next couple of weeks.
10. Panel about publishing and funding. Michelle and Lori will help organized a panel on this topic. Requested presenters were Mariella, Tina, and Rene. Lori will follow up with them.
