AGSA Minutes - April 29, 2005
In Attendance:
Brandon Lundy, Matthew Smith, Patrick Fazioli, C. Severus Ionica, Stephanie Boyd, Jacklyn Ramsey, Rod Salisbury, Dustin Keeler, Lori Eldridge and Amanda Shero
- The AGSA has spent over $450 on the colloquium speaker series, and we voted unanimously to request that the UAC (Undergraduate Anthropology Club) contribute half of this amount because their name was listed as a sponsor on the flyers. Kate Whalen, president of the UAC will be contacted about this.
- If possible, $200 was unanimously voted to be encumbered to buy supplies for the Fall Welcome Picnic. If this is not possible due to GSA budget deadlines, another use for this money will be voted on.
- We unanimously voted on $150 to be encumbered either to Jacklyn Ramsey or to the Department of Anthropology to purchase office supplies for the graduate lounge such as staplers, tape dispensers and a mountable dry erase board.
- A vote passed earlier was unanimously confirmed, encumbering $100 for an end of the year party to Lori Eldridge, which will be held May 7, 2005.
- $50 was unanimously encumbered to Sever Ionica, to purchase new rollers in order to fix the printer in the graduate lounge.
- It was requested that people living in area apartments compile a small paragraph detailing their experiences with Buffalo housing and to submit them to Lori Eldridge as soon as possible to add to our "Best of Buffalo" guide for incoming students.
- It was requested that students volunteer to be mentors for incoming students, and to help them establish themselves in Buffalo before the beginning of the year. Several students volunteered on the spot, including Lori Eldridge, Amanda Shero, Matt Smith, Brandon Lundy, Jacklyn Ramsey and Patrick Fazioli. An email requesting more student volunteers will be sent to the listserv.
- An issue about a change in parking at the Ellicott complex was raised, which would require freshman to keep their cars in the dorm lots and not park on the spine, which would make parking difficult for those of us working in the Ellicott Complex. A petition is being circulated to designate one lot as no overnight parking, and is available to be signed in the department.
- An issue about a new printing policy was also raised, which would place a cap on graduate printing in the libraries equal to that of undergraduates. New printing policies for the lounge for the 2005-6 school year will be discussed at the next meeting.
Repectfully submitted,
Amanda Shero,
AGSA Secretary
