AGSA Minutes - February 6, 2004

In Attendance:
Heather Fried, Dustin Keeler, Brandon Lundy, Alex Priebe, Amanda Shero, Christoper Wahlfeld, Elizabeth McLean-Plunket, and Linda Baringhaus

After calling the meeting to order, Heather Fried made a few announcements:
  1. The Philosophy Department requested support in kind for their speaker series "Inter-disciplinary Movements in Philosophy". It was unanimously decided to recognize their request.
  2. Greg Miller of the History Department was also interested in getting his speaker series recognized by the AGSA. It was unanimously decided to recognize his request.
After announcements, the following "monetary" issues were discussed and voted on.
  1. The AGSA is agreeing to give a $25 honorarium to Chris Owens from VIVE la Casa for the anthropology student colloquium series.
  2. The AGSA is agreeing to give a $100 honorarium to Tina Moffatt (physical anthropology) for the anthropology student colloquium series in April.
  3. The AGSA is agreeing to give a $75 honorarium to Judith Farquhar (medical anthropology) from North Carolina for the anthropology student colloquium series.
  4. The AGSA is agreeing to give $120 to ____________________ in order to take out the four job talk candidates to lunch.

    Here are the dates for the lunches...

    1. Tuesday, February 17th Dr. Edward Hagen (behavioral ecology)
    2. Friday, February 20th Dr. Rene Bobe (paleoecology)
    3. Tuesday, February 24th Ms. Crystal Patil (human biology)
    4. Friday, February 27th Dr. Kermyt Anderson (behavioral ecology)
Ed Button has been unanimously denied funding from the AGSA to attend the SAA conference.

Alex Priebe has offered to apply for a capital grant on behalf of the AGSA from the GSA for a new printer in the graduate lounge.

After this discussion, the meeting was adjourned.
